Hopeful Crafting for February 2013

January 2013 was a slow month for me craft-wise.  I only completed a knit dress and crochet mittens.  I have been battling health issues since January 1st and hopefully February 2013 will be a much more productive month!

I have fallen in love with the website Craftsy.  It features great online classes, workshops, patterns, projects and a blog.  I am currently enrolled in "The Couture Dress" online class taught by Susan Khalje.  I will use New Look 6023, View B for my first couture dress project.  The fabric I have selected for this project is a seafoam green linen I brought last year from Hancock Fabric.

I have ordered silk organza to underline my dress.  Today I will embark on the step to cut out and mark the muslin of the dress.  I am very excited about this project.

I also enrolled in a free online class from Crafsty called "Sewing Machine Feet A to Z" taught by Steffani Lincecum.  I plan to watch this class tomorrow evening.  This evening I will be watching the Forty-Niners win the Super Bowl! (YEAH)

This morning I found Threads was having a great sale on E-books.  I promptly downloaded "The Easy Guide to Sewing Linings" by Connie Long.  I always question my knowledge of lining fabric selection and sewing techniques.  I also downloaded "Linen and Cotton" by Susan Khalje. There is no doubt that linen and cotton are my favorite fabrics to sew with and I want to learn as much as I can about these fabrics as I embark on my couture dresses!

Happy crafting everyone!
