Casual Denim Skirt - Simplicity 1743

Project Details
I needed to add a new denim skirt to my wardrobe.  I found this casual skirt from Simplicity Patterns featuring a contour yoke and front kick pleat.

To this skirt I added a self-made belt!

Notions – thread, one 7" invisible zipper, two pkgs. 1/2" double wide binding tape, one pkg. hem tape, belt kit from A Fashionable Stitch.
Fabric – 1 yard 60" wide pinstripe stretch denim, 1 yard 60" wide polyester organza; both from Hancock Fabric

This pattern is amazing!  I did not have to make any adjustments and I cut a size 8.  I underlined the skirt with polyester organza and love the drape/body it added to the skirt.  I finished my seams with purchased seam binding and my hem with purchased hem tape.  The pattern suggested a lap side zipper but I did an invisible side zipper.

I had purchased a belt-making kit from A Fashionable Stitch and decide to use it for this skirt. The instructions were very easy to follow but I had to stop in the middle of the project to drive to Hancock Fabrics to buy an eyelet plier kit and a tapered awl.  Luckily all notions were 50% off today!

Conclusion
I wanted you to see one of my 29th Wedding Anniversary presents!  My husband brought me this lovely Michael Kors Orange Leather Purse!  I guess I will keep him another year!  Yes, I am still working on my Couture Dress but you will see other projects in-between.
